Any item that is white is available to paint. In the front of the store are home decor items as well as dishes and dinnerware.
In the back of the store we have many animal figurines and piggy banks to choose from.
The price is on the bottom, it includes; the piece of bisque, paint, glaze, the firing and all of the supplies needed to create your masterpiece.
Once you have picked what you want to paint you move on to step 2.
Step 2: Find the paints & listen to instructions.
Today when you paint, the colors will look very dull and chalky, but when you get them back they will be the nice shiny, food safe pieces that you envisioned.
The tile in front of each bottle shows what it is going to look like after it is fired. The dark side of the tile shows 3 coats, the light side shows 1 coat. If you want a nice dark, solid color you want to paint each color 3 times.
You can take as many bottles back to your table as you want. We have paint pallets to pour your paint onto.
We have lots of tools and supplies to help you create a fantastic piece that you will be proud of.
When you get to the studio we will be happy to go through any painting process that you would like to know how to do.
After you have picked out your colors you are ready to start painting.
When you are painting make sure you change brushes for every color. We don't use water on the tables.
Remember, a little bit of paint goes a long way. You can always pour more paint if needed. Pour a dot, not a lot. Once you have finished painting, make sure to put your name or initials on the bottom of the piece. It is important that the name or initials are in paint, because sharpie and pencil will burn off.
Now that you are finished painting you are ready to move onto step 3.
Step 3: Leave your piece with us.
You have finished painting your piece, so now it is time to check out.
You can leave your pieces and all of the supplies used on the table.
You will leave your piece with us for one week.
This time allows your piece to dry, be glazed and finally ,be fired.
Your piece will be ready to be picked up no longer than one week from the day you painted. We do NOT call to let you know when your piece is ready.
We only keep pieces at the studio for a maximum of 30 days. Your piece will be waiting patiently for you on our pick up shelves! After 30 days, all items will become property of The Mud Hut.
